Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Hallboy has no accounts and no sign-in. It works with your own iCloud account, or entirely offline.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. If you’re signed in to iCloud, it also syncs to your own private iCloud database so it reaches your other devices. Anchorwright has no access to that database and cannot read, recover, or export what it holds. Hallboy does not add its own encryption layer on top of Apple’s — your data is protected by Apple’s device and iCloud protections, under your Apple Account.
What is free?
Your first home is free forever, with everything included — the full schedule, every reminder, and all of the how-to content. Hallboy Plus is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks two things: the home record export — a summary document plus a copy of every photo and manual you have attached, for insurance or a sale — and up to three homes in total, each with its own schedule, for people looking after a rental, a parent’s place, or a second property.
Nothing you have already entered is ever taken away. There is nothing to lapse and nothing to renew.
Why didn’t I get a reminder?
Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS on your own device — nothing is sent through a server. If one doesn’t arrive, check three things: that notifications are allowed for Hallboy in the iOS Settings app, that the Notifications toggle is on in Hallboy’s own Settings, and that the task is actually due. A reminder fires once, at 9am, on the day a task is due; if a task is already overdue when you switch reminders on, the next one arrives the following morning.
Hallboy never sends streaks, badges, or follow-up nags — one reminder per task, and that’s it.
How do I delete a system or a home?
Open Home profile. Swipe a tracked system to delete it. To remove a whole home, use Delete this home — that takes its systems and its entire schedule with it, and cannot be undone. To remove everything, delete the app; to also clear the synced copy, remove Hallboy’s data from your iCloud storage in iOS Settings.
Is the how-to guidance professional advice?
No. It’s general homeowner-level guidance to get you started, and it has not been reviewed by a licensed trade. Every home and every appliance is different. Where the app and your manufacturer’s instructions disagree, follow the manufacturer. Where a job calls for a licensed professional, or turns out bigger than the steps describe, stop and hire one — this is especially true of work at height, water heaters and their relief valves, and anything involving gas, sealed refrigerant, or hardwired electrical power.
I bought Hallboy Plus. How do I get it back on a new phone?
Open Hallboy’s Settings and tap Restore Purchases. Hallboy Plus is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account, so it comes back on any device you sign in with — there is no subscription to manage and nothing to cancel or renew.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by Anchorwright — there’s a direct link in the app’s Settings, labelled Refunds & Billing (via Apple).
